Research interests
Our research focuses on investigating the adaptive events that have shaped our genomes. The search for genetic signatures of selection is pursued at different levels using comparative data and exploring intraspecific diversity patterns. In those cases where the imprint of selection is confirmed, we aim to determine the molecular bases of the functional adaptation.
Research organisms
Humans (and sporadically with chimpanzee)
Bioinformatic, analytic, experimental skills
analysis of next generation targeted sequencing, analysis of structural variants from coverage, QTL analysis, analysis of positive selection in humans, human demography, DNA, RNA and protein isolation, SNP and STR genotyping, PCR, Real time qPCR, Sanger sequencing.
